Does the dishwasher create disagreements in your home like it does mine?
I'm really not too sure why this machine that was made to make life easier creates so many arguments. My better half, who I love dearly, likes for things to be packed/put up in a strategic way (packing the car included). Supposedly I don't rinse everything properly and don't put the dishes in the dishwasher the way they should be. I didn't know that there was a right or wrong way. Anyway, this past weekend I picked up the latest issue of Real Simple and found out some interesting things about the dishwasher. If you've already read it, I apologize.
A few tricks to loading:
- spoons and forks should be varied (some placed up and some placed down) - I was glad to read this!
- plates should face the center rather than all in one direction
- bowls go on the top rack
Things you can actually put in the dishwasher:
- garden tools
- hairbrushes - not sure that I would
- potatoes (rinse cycle only)
- small toys
- baseball caps
Do you put anything out of the ordinary in the dishwasher? I'd love to know!
When David was still under my roof and playing baseball, I always washed his hats in the dishwasher. Before they sold those plastic inserts that kept the hat in shape, I used bowls to do that and it worked perfectly!
ReplyDeleteAnother thing I occasionally washed in the dw was the kid's nonporous toys. I'd put them on the top shelf and use the sanitize cycle and that was an easy way to disinfect them if they'd been sick.
The most bizarre thing I've ever heard of is cooking in the dishwasher. I've read that it's possible to cook lasagna and fish in there. Who knew? Who TRIED IT??!!
Finally, as far as the male vs. female dishwashing wars, it must be as old as time. I have to believe that when Eve was washing dishes, Adam insisted that she should do SOMETHING differently! ;)
Great idea about the hats! Crazy about the cooking. I've read that though. I'll stick to the oven and stove. I can't imagine what arguments would arise if I cooked in it! :)
