family photos

We took some family photos a little over a month ago that I forgot to share with you. They turned out well. I love all of the shots of Georgia. Thanks to Stephanie Simon for taking these!

freshly cut

I just love driving around this time of year and seeing everyone's hydrangea bushes in full bloom. Our hydrangea bush is almost at its peak. This week I'm enjoying freshly cut blooms around the house.

pure fun

Hurray for long weekends. Ours was just pure fun and I hope yours was too. We spent lots of time outside on the lake and in the pool. We kicked things off Saturday by taking the boat out to grab some dinner.

Cousin Claudia came to visit!

Gu-Gu wore the lifejacket I wore as a child:)

Sunday afternoon we hung out by the pool and lake to get some much needed sun.

We also celebrated Daniel's Birthday.

Finally, we watched the sunset and it was beautiful!

Thank you to all the men and women that sacrifice so much to protect our country!

ready for the weekend

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you knew you should have just stayed in bed? You know, the kind where an opportunity falls through, someone hits your car and you accidentally lock your child in the car (luckily it was running, but I felt like the worst mother of the year). Well, that has been our week and we are very much looking forward to a long weekend.

On a happier note,  our May weekends have been filled up with fun activities. Here are some pictures of what we've been up to.

We've been enjoying watching our hydrangea bushes bloom and our mint plant take off growing.

Georgia is still loving spending time in her pool.

Georgia also attended her friend Pryor's first birthday party. It was a blast. Georgia particularly liked the crayons and may or may not have taken a bite into one:)

Last weekend Leighton had her first dance recital. It was adorable. Georgia loved watching all the dances as did we. Leighton did a great job. Way to go little ballerina!

We hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend!

happy 10 months!

10 months today?!?!? I can't even believe it. What a fun month we've had. Georgia is a curious little girl and enjoys exploring and people watching (she gets that honestly:). She is a fast crawler and is pulling up on all the furniture. I sure wish time would slow down some. We love you pretty blue-eyed baby!

What Georgia has been up to:
-She's pulling up on all the furniture
- She enjoys splashing in her pool
- She loves mommy and daddy's magazines - needless to say all the covers are off of them:)
- She has learned to clap. It is a very proper clap I might add
- Her sweet babbling continues - mama, dada, baba...
- Sleep has greatly improved. We still have a few rough nights here and there, but that is expected
- She has a total of 6 teethies - 4 on top and 2 on the bottom
- Her favorite place to be is outside, particularly watching the birds
- She knows how to shake her head when we say 'no'

Happy 10 months Georgia! It's time to start planning a party because July will be here before we know it!

contest winner

Well, since we really only had one participant, the winner is an easy pick. I truly think her 'not so typical' lullaby probably would have won anyway regardless. Paul and I laughed out loud when we read her 'lullaby'. Congrats to Lindsay over at The Four Phillips. Your twin boys are precious.

Happy Weekend Folks! Treat yourself to something special.

not your typical lullaby contest

Ok. I have a confession. Remember yesterday when I told you I had 'Make You Sweat' on my current mixed CD? Here's why. For some reason one day when Georgia was unhappy, I started singing the chorus to this song - La la la la la Long La la la la la Long La la la la Long Long li long long long. She loved it and started smiling so big. Now I sing it to her all the time and of course make up my own lyrics to the verses. I do sing your typical lullabies to her, but this crazy song makes her happy. I would be completely embarrassed if she starts singing it in public one day when she gets older. This reminds me of that 'Friends' episode - the one with the inappropriate song:)

Do you sing any 'not so typical lullabies'  to your children to make them smile? I would love to know what song it is! Leave your song in the comment section and Paul will choose his favorite. The winner will be announced on Friday - be sure to leave your first name and song.  The winner gets a FREE copy of my mixed CD:)

mixed cd

                             via

Mixed CD. Do people even still make those? I do occasionally and I think it's crazy how Georgia will probably never even touch a CD. The ipod has taken over.  In college my friends knew me as the girl who always made the most random mixed CD's. When I say random I mean it jumped from a worshipful Lincoln Brewster tune to Norah Jones to an upbeat Kayne song. The CDs were filled with oldies and newbies too. It is supposed to be mixed, right? What can I say, I like a variety of music and when I'm driving to and from work or to a long destination I need a wide array of music to choose from. Here are a few selections from my most current mixed CD:) You know you want a copy of it!

1. All I Have is Christ- Sovereign Grace
2. I Won't Give Up - Jason Mraz
3. Name - Goo Goo Dolls
4. Make You Sweat - Inner Circle (More on this unwholesome song later this week:)

last weekend

I hate to back track, but this little space serves as the scrapbook of our lives and I don't want to leave big events out. Last weekend we enjoyed lots of family time outside. It was Georgia's first time in the pool and she loved it.

We also had the privilege of seeing Leighton dedicated at church. The service was lovely. I loved that all the parents involved renewed their vows before the children were dedicated. Afterwards, my sister hosted a beautiful reception at their home. What a special day it was. We love you Leighton and pray for you always.

We have lots of big plans ahead for this weekend too! If I don't make it back on here before Sunday, Happy Mother's Day to you. What a beautiful and sacrificial role a mother plays.
