gold leaf frame deal

I always love art in gold leaf frames, but it is hard to find a pretty one without going the custom route which typically comes with a higher price tag. I found this gold leaf frame from Utrecht. The frame is still on sale. I bought the 11X14 for my Emily Jeffords print. It literally is just the frame. I paid $17.99 for mine. I took it to Hobby Lobby and they added glass, matting ($2.99 pre-cut, not custom), backing and hardware for $26. They did it right on the spot too which was a plus! I was really pleased with the price and how it turned out.

I am slowly getting around to updating our master bedroom. I need more serenity in my life :) so I am going with a more serene feel in our room this time around. I still have lots to add to our room, but I am taking my time.

desk nightstand

We are in the process of finally updating our master bedroom. I don't know why we always leave this room last on the list to update. In celebration of our 8 year wedding anniversary though, the process of switching things up has started. Our home does not have a separate office space and currently I do not want to set one up in the playroom so we are creating a little workspace in our room. Honestly, with technology these days, you can really set up shop anywhere,  but we both wanted a space where we could go and shut the door if we needed to work from home while the kids are there too. I have always really liked the idea of a writing/reading space in the bedroom so my new nightstand is now a desk. The photos below are my inspiration for this little corner.

diy projects to try

Are you tired of looking at the dead ferns from Georgia's preschool pictures yet? Ha! I know I am. I can't believe I didn't throw those things out or just avoided having them in the pictures. Oh well. We are all still adjusting to our new routine. I'm feeling a little tired and overwhelmed, but we will all eventually get the hang of it.

With all that free time I have, I found some diy projects that I would like to attempt :) If we are honest with ourselves, we make time for the things we really want no matter how crazy our schedules are, right?

I love this bookcase desk. You can never have too much storage.

I am always drawn to stripes so I am loving these lamps.

I like the look of these diy bean frames too.

This twill-taped lamp shade catches my attention too. I think it would be a nice addition to our laundry  room on a drum shade pendant.

looking back and linking up

I've been looking back thru some of our photos over the past week. Georgia turns 2 this week and I can hardly believe it. Some of the photos I was looking thru were pictures of her nursery. We just recently, as of a few weeks ago, switched Georgia over to a big girl bed and said goodbye to the crib. It makes me sad. She's just growing up so fast. Her room basically looks the same other than her new bed and bedding. We are still working on a few final things for the room (painting her bed, having pillows made, etc...). I hope to share some pictures soon though. I'm linking up to Emily Clark's blog today and taking one look back at Georgia's nursery. Emily is having a Kids' Spaces link up party. You should hop on over and get some inspiration from her fabulous blog as well as other readers that are participating. You also have a chance to win a $500 pottery barn kids giveaway!

touch of summer

We have some cubby sized wall cutouts as you go upstairs in our house and I'm always at a loss as to what should go in them. I've used the infamous gold letters from Hobby Lobby for some front door projects before and thought maybe I could use it again to add a touch of summer to the house.  I like how it turned out and the added texture is nice. All you need is some rope, your hot glue gun and a large gold letter from Hobby Lobby.

spring planting

I must have spring on the brain. I think it's because I'm now suffering a nasty cold that Georgia had last week. I am so ready for warmer weather. I checked the 10 day forecast today and it doesn't look pretty. Hopefully all this rain will help our spring flowers and summer gardens though. Speaking of, I've been contemplating growing a vegetable garden. Now is the time to start thinking about it. From what I've read, most of the seeds need to be planted after the last frost. I'm thinking some time in April. My vegetable garden needs to be simple and manageable. I like the idea of a container garden, but a small raised bed garden would be nice to. I welcome tips if you've ever done this! I'll keep you posted on what I decide. Here are some pictures that are getting me excited about spring planting! Happy Monday!

computer nook

One thing I really like about our house is the little computer nook located right off of the kitchen. It is so nice to be able to have the computer close by and more importantly not have to use a bedroom to create an 'office'. I guess the one downfall is that it is visible to guests, but maybe that is not so bad because it forces us to keep it somewhat organized.   We love this little space. There are no windows so there is zero natural light here, but it is a cozy space. Here's the finished bulletin board too.

Happy almost weekend. Stay warm friends!

georgia's first birthday: bloom and grow party

Georgia's first birthday party was a success! We all had a great time - especially Georgia. Many of our closest family and friends traveled for the big occasion. Paul and I are so thankful for our family and friends. They all were our support system through our first year of parenthood. We love you all very much and couldn't have made it through Georgia's first year without you.

On to the party details now:
I decided to go with a 'bloom and grow' party theme. Here are the invitations (along with our blurred address and contact info:).

The plan was to host the party outside, but the weather was a little 'iffy' so we decided to set everything up indoors. Here's how we greeted our guests.

The birthday girl!

A little unsure what to do with the cupcake!

Oh baby girl, we cannot believe you are 1 years old! What a special birthday party it was. We love you so much!
