it was merry

We had a very Merry Christmas and trust that you did too! I didn't take as many pictures this year as I have in previous years, but I was able to capture some of the day. We spent Christmas Eve at our church then headed to Paul's parent's house for a delicious meal and fun family time. Christmas day was spent with my family and we had a blast. Here are some pictures from Christmas Day!

A change in jammies so we could match our cousin:)

An attempt at a group shot. Paul only made half of the photo!

Georgia was on the move all day (nothing new there). Here's the closest we got to a picture together.

Happy New Year Friends! I hope you can ring in the new year in a special way!

peace on earth

In case I'm not back on the blog until after Christmas, I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas! What a special time it is to reflect on the birth of Jesus. God sent his only son to save us from our sins. Let's not forget that.

I'm praying for safe travels for everyone and sending special prayers to the families affected by the tragedy in Connecticut.

Merry Christmas.

potato soup (no potato peeling involved)

Here is another recipe for you! It is delish and easy. You can throw everything in the crock-pot and either chase the kids around for the rest of the day, head off to work or tackle a full day of Christmas shopping and know that a hearty, warm meal is waiting for you when dinner time arrives. Here is the recipe for the slow cooker potato soup.

chocolate swirl muffin cake

Here is a dessert recipe you must try. I warn you that it is not completely homemade, but it is moist and delicious and easy peasy! The recipe for the chocolate swirl muffin bundt cake can be found here

Happy Holiday baking!

christmastime is here

Christmastime is here folks and we are enjoying it. We've been busy with lots of fun activities. It is a hectic time of year, but it is one of my favorites!

We went to the mountains to pick out a tree for Grammy and Grandaddy (my parents) right after Thanksgiving. We ended up just getting our tree at our local tree lot in town. It was fun to visit the tree farm though. Leighton and Georgia saw Santa and enjoyed a hayride.

Georgia meets Santa. It didn't go well.

Georgia sees Santa again. She's still not loving him yet. Maybe next year?!?

Speaking of Santa, if you live in/around Charlotte, you must visit the Black Lion in Pineville. Every Saturday from 1-3pm (I think) Santa and Mrs. Claus are there along with elves and other friends. It even snows there! The best part is that it is all FREE. Leighton and Georgia loved it (other than Georgia's Santa experience).

Slowly, but surely I'm adding Christmas touches to the house.

We ended up getting a big tree instead of the table top tree. I'm glad we did!

I made yarn trees for Georgia's room. They were quick and easy and added a little holiday cheer to her room.

Finally, Leighton and Georgia rode in our town Christmas parade earlier this week. They both did beautifully and really seemed to have a good time.

We have another weekend full of Christmas fun ahead of us! I hope you are enjoying the season too!

I know that everyone has already moved on to Christmas festivities (us included), but I didn't want to skip over posting some pictures from Thanksgiving. What a great Thanksgiving it was. We celebrated Thanksgiving with Paul's family a week early and I failed to take any pictures that day, but we enjoyed a delicious meal and great family time. On actual Thanksgiving Day, my parents hosted my dad's side of the family at their house. It was a large crowd, but so special to spend time with our family. My grandparents became great-grandparents and grandparents all in the same week so it was fun to see them with the two little additions to our family - Elizabeth and Bennett.

These two are nothing but trouble.

We tried to get a family shot here!

Since Thanksgiving, we have decorated our house for Christmas, seen Santa twice and have walked thru the lights at McAdenville. More pictures to come...

Happy Christmastime!

tabletop christmas tree

I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is next week - crazy! We typically buy our Christmas tree and decorate it the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving. I'm considering a tabletop Christmas tree this year. Georgia is a curious little girl and she gets into everything:) What toddler doesn't though, right? My fear is that we will either be saying the word 'no' the entire Christmas season or the tree may get pulled down! I like the look of this tabletop tree. Any ideas/advice on what to do?

I am contemplating adding some slipcovers to our dining room chairs just to switch and brighten things up some. Here are some that I like. Where is the best place to buy these?
