table skirt

As promised, here is the table skirt tutorial. The idea was not mine, but it was my attempt at copying it. Once again, I followed a fabulous tutorial from Little Green Notebook. The tutorial is here. I must say that this project took me a little bit of time just because I was trying to be really precise. I spotted this Waverly fabric at Mary Jo's probably 6 months ago, but was just trying to find an inexpensive way to incorporate it in my house. My parents did a complete remodeling of their downstairs and they no longer had room for this little table. My mom really didn't want to give it away since it belonged to her mother, so I told her I would take it off of her hands:) Then I saw the table skirt tutorial. I knew then exactly how and where I would use that fabric.
What I used:
1 1/2 yards of fabric
5 yards of grosgrain ribbon
clear velcro strips - I too got mine at Home Depot
fabri-tac glue
a good iron

Seriously, I had every intention of sewing this table skirt, but I started using the fabri-tac glue and it was just so quick and simple. Shhhh! Don't tell Paul! Just kidding. He already knows.
I really like seeing this little burst of color while coming upstairs. This is just a side note, but for Christmas this year, my dad had the photo below scanned and framed for me, my sister, and my mom. It is a picture of my grandparents on their honeymoon at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. Their names are Wilbur and Charlotte. Just like in Charlotte's Web! I thought it was only fitting to put it on this table.

Let me know if you make one. I would love to see pictures (amberjpoteat@gmail.com)!
