shades of red, white and blue

I do not know about you, but patriotic holidays are some of my favorites, so I tend to love any shade of red, white and blue. This home from Ashley Gilbreath is lovely and incorporates these colors beautifully.

two easy meal ideas

Now that many of the kids' activities are resuming, so is our crazy spring schedule which makes for rushed dinners which are either at 4:30pm or 8pm:). I am having to get creative again about meals since there is not much time for meal prep. We have made this Mexican baked pasta and crockpot salmon twice a month for the past few months so I thought I would share the recipes since they seem to be favorites in our house and are easy to make ahead of time.

I know crockpot salmon sounds strange, but this creamy lemon salmon is so delicious.

Have a great week!

last 5 pins: April edition

Here are my last five pins: April Edition

1. Outdoor arbors are always so beautiful.  The plants and flowers of late spring/ early summer are some of my favorites.

2. All of the studded sandals I see around keep catching my eye.

3. I have seen this wallpaper in green, which I do love, but the blue version is a stunner too.

4. It is time to plant those tomatoes for yummy summer sides like this

5. Occasionally, we dream about having a vacation rental property on the lake or at the beach. If we did, this would be the sweetest little guest room.

Make it a great week!

playroom window seat

When we first moved into our house, I knew I wanted a window seat in our playroom. This room has a perfect cutout for a cozy nook. Up until recently though, our playroom was filled wall to wall with large toys. Sadly, Georgia and Graham are getting older and we have started to part ways with several of those large toys. Do not worry, the closet and other wall still have plenty of Legos, Barbies, and other various toys and games.  It felt like the perfect time though to start creating multipurpose spaces in this room that we all can use and enjoy.

My husband loves when I come to him with a Pinterest picture. Ha! He said if I can get rid of some of the large toys in the playroom, then he would build the window seat. I quickly posted several large toys to Facebook Marketplace. Paul really outdid himself with this project. It is exactly what I envisioned for this spot.  My first step was to research cushions. I found that custom window seat cushions are pretty pricey and the width of our space is about the length of an XL twin bed so I decided to find a daybed cushion that he could build around. This is why there are two boxes on either side touching the wall. At first, I wasn't sure how I would feel about these, but I really like them. It gives us a spot to set a cup or a pretty plant. The drawers are large and deep and will be perfect for storing toys, books and blankets. One of our favorite things to do as a family is to play cards or board games, therefore,  I hope to add a game table with two chairs in this space some time soon.

All pillows and the rug are Threshold - Studio McGee from Target.
Hardware is from Lowes
Wall sconce lights are from Amazon

last 5 pins: february edition

Here are my last five pins: The February Edition

Our latest project has been a built-in window seat in our playroom. I have been pinning several window seats.  This one from Studio McGee is just beautiful and the extra storage is certainly a bonus.

We have entered the phase of winter in the Carolinas where spring begins to show itself here and there and that excites me. I love an all white outfit

We recently became dog owners and this dog-friendly built-in looks a lot nicer than the large dog crate sitting in my bedroom:) If I had a mudroom, this would definitely be worth considering.

This living room is lovely. The textures, colors, ottoman and that mantle...They all speak to me.

These lucky charm treats look like something my kids would love. Who am I kidding? I would love them too!

Have a great weekend!

last 5 pins

Happy New Year! I hope your 2021 is off to a great start. I have been reading and organizing and I also have jumped back into pinning ideas off of Pinterest. It really is the best way to save ideas, projects and recipes. These are the last 5 things I pinned and I thought it might be a fun post to share once a month.

1. I love how the wall, trim and bookshelves are all painted in this same shade of blue/green.

2. Those pendants are gorgeous.

3. Now that is one big, beautiful olive tree. I need one.

4. This looks delicious.

5. Peanut butter brownie heart-shaped ice cream sandwiches, perfect for Valentines's Day.

Have a great week!
