day 1

Here are some pictures of Georgia that we snapped this morning before taking her to her first day of preschool. Tears were shed, mainly from me, but we made it through day 1.

I hope everyone had a great day today! Cheers to a new and fun school year!

savor and change

Well, today was a great Saturday. The weather was perfect and we had lots of good family time together.

This afternoon Georgia's Sunday School teachers threw a mooooving up party for the one year olds that will be moving to the two year old class. Georgia has loved her teachers. The party was held at their farm today. What a fun get-together is was filled with a tractor ride, cows, snacks, friends and a bounce house.

We ended our day by going out to dinner and then playing in the yard. We are just savoring the final days of summer. Georgia starts full day week school on Monday and I start back full time too at work. Change is hard, but it is good and necessary for growth. I have so enjoyed my extra time with Georgia and will cherish the memories made. I look forward to all the new things that she will learn this year and the friends she will make. It is going to be fun! Prayers are appreciated as we adjust to our new 'normal' schedule. Good luck to all who have kids starting school/preschool etc... this week!

hint of fall

I'm not sure where you live, but there is a hint of fall in the air this weekend. It gets me excited about sweaters, scarves and boots!

late night loves

Here are a few late night Pinterest loves of mine.

One day I'd like a formal living room with a ticking stripe settee like this one.

I love this kitchen and the lamps!

A beautiful maxi skirt from Kayce Hughes. Love the bangles too!

Something about this bedroom is striking and calming at the same time.

georgia's new bed

We transitioned Georgia into a bed not too long ago and it has gone pretty well. She was a terrible crib sleeper. I probably didn't sleep train her like I should have, but an hour of solid screaming is the most I could handle so for 5-6 months she was in the bed with us every night (I know, don't judge please:). I really needed her out of our bed so we decided to go ahead and get her a big girl bed and thankfully she has done great. There have been a few nights where she has come to our room, but I walked her right back to her room and a few nights where I have squeezed in her bed, but for the most part it has gone well. It is a little strange when she walks in our room in the morning and says, ' mommy, downstairs now'. She loves her room and bed though. Luckily I was able to find bedding that matched the current grey and coral/pink in her room. I found the buffalo check bedding at Ikea. The only thing in her room I changed was the bedding. I'll add things along the way that are less 'baby' and more 'little girl Georgia', but for now I don't plan to change anything else. Here are a few pictures of her sweet little bed without the bed rail that is usually up. Please pretend that the sheets and bedskirt have been freshly ironed.

I was taking pictures and then someone spotted the flowers and had to check them out.

...And one walked away.

happy 2nd

Happy 2nd Birthday Georgia. Your second year has been full of many memories and even more laughter and fun. You are the sweetest little girl who never wants any baby to be without his or her paci or mommy, you always want to kiss everyone's boo boos and make them better, you love to dance and sing, read books, play the piano, color, blow bubbles, play with your babies and change their diapers, wear mommy and daddy's shoes, swim, play in the bathtub, snuggle in the morning and blow kisses. You have taught me a lot about patience and focusing on what's really important in life - not everything has to be perfect and it won't be. Your smile and giggles melt my heart. I love you more than you know. We have many fun adventures ahead of us!

Georgia phrases:
'Hold you me' - will you hold me
'No want some' - I don't want any
'Want some' - I want some
'Sicle' - popsicle
'my ipad' - play game on ipad
'Go park' - I want to go to the park
'Thank you welcome' - Thank you - she takes care of the 'your welcome' for you
'Chocolate milk' - I want chocolate milk
'Sit down here' - play with me
'I show you' - I want to show you something
'Nakey' - I'm naked (by I'm, I mean she is:)

In My Arms by Corrinne May

You are all I’ve dreamed of
Everything I’ve longed for
Little babe, so beautiful
Cradled in my arms

My heart was made to love you
My voice, a song to soothe you
I will be your warm cocoon
You’re safe within my arms

Sleepy stars are blinking
So close your eyes my darling
We’ll play again in the morning
till then, rest in my arms

You close your eyes in slumber
My world slows down to a whisper
Nothing else could matter
When you are in my arms

For now just let me linger
Your hand wrapped round my finger
My heart is filled with wonder
Your world within my arms

Every passing hour
You blossom like a flower
A few short years
to hold you tight
every moment God provides

Someday you’ll be a mother
And cradle your own daughter
Perhaps then you’ll remember
When you were in my arms
I loved you in my arms

it was sweet

We celebrated Georgia's second birthday this morning. I decided to keep things pretty simple this year so we had a sweet, small breakfast with family at our house to celebrate Georgia. We enjoyed waffles with berry toppings, eggs, sausage, bacon and mini smoothies. I made a cake from scratch too, which I may never do again! The actual cake part turned out fine, but the homemade icing was a disaster. I quickly scraped it all off and ran to the store to buy icing. Note to self, I am not a baker. The party was fun! Georgia had a blast and has enjoyed playing with all of her gifts today, especially her new tricycle and slide. Here are some pictures from her party.

I still can't believe she is two...

She's now prepared for all the rain we've been having. Maybe this will jinx it?!?
